How long does the blood donation process take?
Pre-donation counselling and check-up: 10–15 mins.
Donation: 10–12 mins.
Post-donation rest and refreshments: 10–15 mins.
What is the age limit for blood donation?
First-time donors: 18–60 years.
Regular donors: up to 65 years.
How frequently can I donate blood?
Men: every 3 months; Women: every 4 months (if medically eligible).
What tests are done on donated blood?
Every unit is tested for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, Syphilis, Malaria, Irregular Antibodies and blood grouping.
Can I donate platelets separately?
Yes, via Apheresis (SDP). It’s safe and can be done twice a week, with at least 2 days between sessions.
